Our Story and Philosophy
Stonemoor Day Care Centre Inc. was established in 1981 as a non-profit, charitable organization. Licensed by the Ministry of Education, we are known for offering comprehensive child care services across Uxbridge, Scugog Township and the Township of Brock. Our program is run by a caring, professional staff that is trained to meet your child’s individual needs. Whether your little one enrols in our toddler, preschool, or before-and after-school program, he or she will grow and prosper in a safe, positive setting.
Promoting Creativity, Learning, and Independence
At our child care centre, we are all about fostering positive self-esteem and independence among children. We offer a wide variety of learning-through-play experiences, such as creative activities, music, art, as well as developmental and cognitive learning opportunities. We provide challenging tasks and experiences to students that are appropriate for their developmental needs and help enhance their innate abilities. Some of our facilities also offer nursery school programs for your convenience.
Welcoming Children Facing Different Challenges
As a committed non-profit organization, we care about the welfare of all the children in the community who need our assistance. Children with “exceptionalities” are welcome at our child care centre where outside professional consultants are available as needed. We have associations with several agencies and organizations in the field, such as:
Once these outside agencies complete the assessment, our educators then work with them to develop a personalized program for every individual child.
RECE-certified Educators You Can Trust
In order to make sure that your child gets the best care, we hire only qualified educators in our day care centre. All of our teachers have registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and obtained their RECE certification. In addition, we also have assistants who are either Child Care Practitioners working toward their RECE Diploma or are participating in professional development opportunities.
It is mandatory for all educators to maintain the current standard CPR and First Aid Certificate. Throughout their service period, our staff members are encouraged to take part in the many professional development workshops that are offered by Durham Children's Services and the Ministry of Education.
Our Mission Statement
Meeting the current and future needs of the Durham community through leadership, co-operation, innovation and service excellence."
